Summary
Euphemia Martins receives an invitation to the 1913 World Fair in Ghent, Belgium, which unbeknown to anyone will be the last great gathering of the greatest minds of the time before the world plunges into World War One. With Richenda expecting and unfit to travel, a chaperone, Mrs Brown, is engaged to accompany Euphemia. She and Bertram, along with his factotum Rory, revel in the glorious exhibits on display; and in Bertram's case, also in the tearooms. Nothing can possibly go wrong - until Mrs Brown is found dead with a confession that she is a terrorist, devoted to destroying science. Unable to believe this, and not wanting to be accused of transporting her into the country, Bertram, Euphemia and Rory attempt to uncover the truth, in hopes of preventing a potential diplomatic nightmare..
