- After a body is found in a canal, tied up in a sleeping bag and weighed down with bricks, DC Sean Blake is sent in to investigate. Another body with links to the first is soon discovered under similar circumstances, meaning a clear pattern is emerging and a mysterious figure seen asking questions about the victims becomes the prime suspect. But as Blake delves into the pasts of those killed and their friends still living, including one who is now the crime lord of Manchester, their group's transgressions as teenagers come to light and, with them, more suspects. Matters are complicated for Blake when those in the group refuse to cooperate with the police. With a killer so determined and targets unwilling to accept help, can Blake track down the correct suspect before each of them are eliminated?
