Summary

Widowed sisters Hester and Harriet are reluctantly driving to see well-meaning relatives on Christmas Day when they come across a frail young woman sheltering in a bus stop with her tiny baby. Their desire to get out of the meal, along with concern for this woman, takes them down an unexpected route - one which leads all involved down rather dangerous paths, and affords the sisters a glimpse into a side of life far removed from their cosy shared house
