Summary
Storytime is a bibliomemoir for adults, a book about the author's experience of reading books. In the author's case, it's a voyage of discovery back to the books she had loved more than any others: the books she read as a child. She wanted to find out why they were so vitally important to her, why she needed them, and why they still shape her today. The author chose a series of books she'd read between the ages of seven and eleven, wrote down what she could remember about them, then reread them. They include Lewis Carroll's Alice books, Enid Blyton, WinniethePooh, The Wind in the Willows, The Magic Pudding, the Narnia books and schoolgirl comics. And one book she'd hated: Little Women. Each chapter considers one text, or more than one that belong together. And each time the author has tried to analyse what she needed from this story and these characters
